Focus Startupcity: Mymo Wireless


We had earlier blogged about the Silicon India’s Startup city event/ exhibition that was held on June 6th 2009 in Bangalore, India where a number of start up companies from India showcased their products and technology and were looking out for possible funding.

So, we have decided to write about some of them in a series called “Focus Startupcity” – where we want to introduce the company and the technology/ products that they bring/ hope to bring in the area of networking technologies.

Today we introduce to you, a young company called ‘Mymo Wireless Technology Pvt. Ltd’ which has its office in the campus of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. One of their founders has studied in the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and IISc is also listed as the preliminary investor in this project.

As their vision says, they want to establish a world class design house in wireless technologies and demonstrate leadership in delivering innovative IP Cores and end reference products in the emerging and future markets, they are into the development of soft and hard IP cores and prototypes for 3G-4G technologies. They want to show TTM advantages though their ‘disruptive’ innovations for 3G and 4G markets. Apart from this, they are also working on Femtocells and IEEE 802.11n MIMO technologies.

IP Cores are the short form of Intellectual Property Core which is a block of logic or data that is used in making a Field Programmable Array (FPGA) or Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) for a product. They are like the designs of a technology that can be broken down in to smaller units which could be re-used for automating the design industry (To avoid the repetition of previously designed components). An IP Core is intended to be portable – that is, it should be able to insert it in to any technology or design methodology (third party). One good example is a PCI Interface.

How exactly they are going to differentiate their offerings is not clear (as they are very secretive about it and there is not much information on their website) but the company is in a very early stage and the prototypes are being developed.
