Libre Office 4.0 – The Latest version of the free office productivity suite released
The Document Foundation has released the latest version of Libre Office – 4.0. I guess people are already aware of Libre Office – The free, open source office productivity suit consisting of Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Math & Base. Libre Office can be downloaded and used on Linux, Windows & MacOS platforms. You can read the press release introducing major enhancements done in their latest version – Libre Office 4.0 and download the software, from here.
Since Libre Office follows open standards, it is inter-operable with all office productivity suites that follow standards. Inter-operability with MS Office formats is being improved continuously with every release. You should consider using Libre Office for your documentation needs both in your office and for your personal use, if you are not already using it.
Libre Office has already attracted more than 500 developers (mostly volunteers) to work on the code. TDF inclusive governance and copyleft license along with a friendly community, makes this project very developer friendly. If you are a developer, you could consider participating in the vibrant Libre Office project, thereby improving the software and gaining vital skills, yourselves. Libre Office users might consider donating some money towards this open source project.
