Welcome to yet another edition of bi-weekly IT/Computer Networking industry updates. In this edition let us look at some new products and other interesting news published by the vendors in our industry over the last two weeks (between 11th February and 24th February, 2013).
#1. Brocade is positioned in the visionary quadrant in the Gartner’s magic quadrant for ‘Data center Network Infrastructure’ – Analyst firm Gartner has released the Magic Quadrant for ‘Data Center Network Infrastructure’ and Brocade has been placed in the visionary quadrant in this edition. #2. Dell releases DR4100 Disk Back-up Appliance – Dell has released a new data-backup appliance: Dell DR4100, based on its Fluid Data architecture. The company says that customers can reduce their back-up storage requirements by up to 15 times, with this solution. Read more…
#3. Amazon announces the availability of AWS Redshift & launches AWS OpsWorks – Amazon has announced that it’s cloud data warehouse service, AWS Redshift is now available for all customers. #4. Barracuda Networks announces Copy, a cloud-based storage/file-sharing platform – Barracuda Networks has announced a new cloud-based, storage/file-sharing platform, ‘Copy’. Among other features, it supports multiple computer OS (including Linux) and multiple mobile OS platforms. Read more…
#5. NetApp introduces new enterprise storage systems that support flash storage – NetApp has introduced new enterprise storage systems: FAS/V6221, 6250, 6290. All these models support NetApp flash storage modules. Read more…
#6. Checkpoint introduces 21700 Security Appliance – In a compact 2U form-factor, Checkpoint has introduced its latest security appliance: Checkpoint 21700 model. This appliance supports 78 – 110 Gbps of firewall throughput, 25 Gbps of IPS throughput, high port density (up to 37 ports), etc. Read more…
