Welcome to another edition of weekly computer networking/IT industry updates. This week, let us look at some important news, product releases and articles published by the various vendors in our industry, from 21st May and 27th May, 2013.

Aruba Networks introduces Aruba 220 Series Access Points (802.11ac compliant): Aruba Networks has released Aruba 220 Series Access points for their range of controllers, and these AP’s are 802.11ac compliant. Aruba says that these access points are expected to be available to customers from June 2013. Read more…

#2. Barracuda Networks acquires SignNow: Barracuda Networks has announced that they have acquired SignNow, a mobile signing and document storage provider. This acquisition is intended to strengthen their cloud storage platform, Copy. Last week they also announced that the free storage limit for Copy users has been increased from 5 GB to 15 GB. #3. Blue Coat to acquire Solera Networks: Blue Coat has announced that they will shortly be acquiring Solera Networks, to add security analytics and forensic capabilities to the Blue Coat product portfolio. Read more…

#4. Fortinet introduces new OS for their Web Application Firewalls: Fortinet has announced the FortiWeb 5 OS for its web application firewall family. The new OS includes features like search engine identification, Bot dashboard, Real browser enforcement, etc. Read more…

#5. SolarWinds acquires N-able: SolarWinds has announced that they have completed the acquisition of N-able, that provides Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) and MSP service operation, among other solutions. Read more…

#6. VMware announces vCloud Hybrid Service: VMware has announced the launch of vCloud Hybrid Cloud service, which is an IaaS offering to extend existing VMware data centers to the public cloud. Read more…

#7. Citrix introduces new Cloud solutions to support Mobile workstyles: Among others, Citrix has introduced Citrix XenDesktop7 to virtualize Windows virtual apps and desktops on any mobile device; Citrix XenMobile Enterprise and Citrix ShareFile. Read more…
